Seniors of Living Hope Church

We meet about once a month except in summer, for a scrumptious potluck meal, after which we have a meeting to discuss activities, projects, and needs of the Church.  After the meeting, we are f
air museum 1ree to play games, visit, or work on a project.
We collect dues of $2.00 each meeting, which are saved towards our end-of-year outing, which may be something like a
trip to the Oregon Coast, or to Silver Falls State Park, the Oregon Gardens, or the Evergreen Air Museum.  After the main attraction, we all go to a nice restaurant where we sit and visit over a special meal, paid for by our dues!

One of our trips was to the Air Museum, to see the Spruce Goose!

Said one member: "I walked in, wondering, Where's the Spruce Goose? Then I looked up -- and realized it was taking up most of the building!  The museum is 10 stories high, because the tail of the Spruce Goose is 8 stories high!  The gargantuan wings loom overhead from one side of the building to the other, with other planes suspended around it like gnats."  We learned that the building was constructed on three sides at first, then the Goose was brought inside in pieces to be assembled while the rest of the building was finished around it.  It looks like a bird too big for its cage, looking out the huge front bank of windows.  The tour lasted about an hour, and gave us lots of interesting information on many of the planes, including the two latest additions, a Soviet Photon Space Capsule, and the new SR-71 Blackbird!
